Hornets face Cherokee in Final Regular Season Game
WOODSTOCK—The Hornet Varsity Football Team dropped last weeks Region 4AAAAAAA contest 37-10 as they continued to have challenges stopping opponents. The Hornets are scoring 18 ppg but yielding 31 ppg. In host Cherokee, the Hornets will be facing the Region’s most anemic offense with an average of 3.2 ppg and the Region’s most porous Defense giving up 35 ppg. It will be Senior Night for the Warriors so the Hornets can expect a competitive effort on the part of the Warriors to go out with a win in their Final Game. Cherokee’s record currently stands at 0-9.
The Hornets are still in the mix for the State AAAAAAA Playoffs. Walton, Woodstock and Etowah have locked up 3 of the 4 Playoff Spots for Region 4. Lassiter must defeat Etowah on the road in order to seize the #4 seed from our Region. However, a Lassiter loss leaves them a Region record of 2-3. Coupled with a Roswell win, the Hornets 2-3 Region record would give the # 4 seed to the Hornets by virtue of their win vs. Lassiter on October 6.
The # 4 seed will play the Region Champion Winner of Region 3AAAAAAA’s game between McEachern and Hillgrove on the road on Friday November 10.
