A Letter to Football Families

March 14, 2020

Dear Roswell High School and Junior Hornet Families,

For an organization whose mission is to promote parent/student involvement, coordinate supporting activities (Jr. Hornets), provide equipment, ensure recognition of our athletes while increasing the enjoyment of our football fans, the loss of a Head Football coach is disappointing. However, Roswell Football is in a unique position due to the depth of our coaching staff.

Chris Prewett was introduced to the team on Thursday as our Interim Head Coach. In addition to Coach Prewett, our staff is comprised of Coach Dodd (20 yrs), Coach Hamilton (20 + yrs), Coach Rogers (10 years), Coach Diaz (7 yrs), Coach Curry (10 + yrs) and Coach Kalantarian (3 yrs). Together this staff has over 70 years of coaching experience. The program will continue to be strong moving forward.

In an effort to expedite the hiring of a strong Head Coach, the position was posted Thursday on a national platform. Our Athletic Director has already received several resumes and anticipates receiving many more. Our goal is to have a Head Coach in place before the start of Spring Football. If you have not done so already, please consider filling out the survey that will be used to help us select the candidate that will be the best fit for our team and community.

Additionally, due to the unprecedented times we are facing with COVID19 we will be rescheduling our Strongman Blitz Day and most likely our Strongman Contest. As soon as we have dates for these events, we will let you know.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, our Athletic Director (Ben Sutter) or our Principal (Dr. Robert Shaw). Champions are resilient. They handle things that are thrown at them. They bounce back and overcome adversity. We ask that of all of you that are part of the Roswell Football Community. Trust that our administration is doing what is best for our program and hold firm to the pride and love for our Hornets. Do not be lured or swayed by rumor regarding our program. The decision is in good hands. Do not forget that WE ARE ROSWELL and we will be stronger than ever in 2020!
